How The Alaska Airlines Atmos Summit Credit Card Became A Game-Changer For Me Using Porter

The Alaska Atmos Summit card's 3x points on all foreign transactions — paired with the Alaska/Porter partnership — has quietly become one of the most powerful travel setups available to Canadians.

It’s been quite the busy off-season around here. The Maple Leafs have new management, and earlier this week, GM John Chayka elected to part ways with head coach Craig Berube; the search for a replacement is now on. I’ve also been spending more time than I would have thought in Buffalo, following the Sabres for some of their home games since it’s a short drive and a very compelling story.

Appropriately enough, it’s my connection to Buffalo and Niagara Falls, New York, that made getting the Atmos Summit Credit Card last summer such a logical move. As someone who is self-employed, the card has been an absolute game-changer when it comes to my spending.

In December 2023, Alaska Airlines and Porter Airlines announced a broad partnership. That agreement expanded last year when users could begin to redeem Alaska Miles (now called Atmos points) for Porter flights. Given that most of my flights either originate from or land in Toronto, either at Pearson Airport or Billy Bishop, I found the partnership rather intriguing.
